Summer Jelly Manicure

Hello!

Today I fancied a nice sweet manicure with a summery feel, and so I got out Henley Regatta by Nails Inc! It's a sheer jelly with a strawberry colour and scent ~ very cute and lovely for shorter nails. I painted on two coats and, as an accent nail, I topped my ring finger with OPI I Lily Love You.

I feel very sweet ^_^

Bird Portrait Manicure

Hello!

Yesterday I reviewed this picture frame stamping plate from Born Pretty Store, and today I broke it out for a second time for personal use - a bird portrait manicure!

I thought it'd be a great idea to put a water decal in the middle of the stamped picture frame, so I had a look through my collection and found some perfectly-sized birds for the job. I painted a base of Barry M Huckleberry, stamped on the picture frames along with some swirly accents to border them, then added my birdies. Here they are!

Ornate Frame Manicure

This post contains products which were sent to me for review :-)

Hello!

As promised I've painted a new manicure to combat my depression blues, and to start myself off I tried this QA87 stamping plate which I received for review from Born Pretty Store!

The plate has 9 images, featuring ornate frames and matching intricate designs. I decided to show them off in black over a pale base. Because the details on the plate are so fine, I got the best results by scraping very lightly when stamping - I learnt this as I went along! Here are all of the designs across both my hands:

Wah, how good are these for nail art?! I would use the frames and add another stamping image in the centre, or a decal or a rhinestone. My favourites are definitely the square frame and the ornate heart.

If you want to get this plate (or anything else) you can get 10% off your BPS order with my coupon code CMBQ10

Collection Work The Colour ~ Fairy Dust

Hello!

This is the second nail polish I received for my birthday (thanks mam and dad)! It's called Fairy Dust and it's by Collection, which I keep wanting to call Collection 2000 because I'm old school ;-)

Fairy Dust is a sheer polish. It's blue with a gorgeous iridescence to it which gives your nails the look of fairy wings. For my manicure I painted one quick coat of a lilac shade followed by two coats of Fairy Dust to fully show it off. Here it is:

It is magical. I know some people don't like sheers (definitely for me they have to be something special); if you can put up with them, this is a great buy, especially since it's £1.99. And I've just thought that it'd be a great base for butterfly nail art.

In Lisa news I'm having a really bad time with life and depression right now. I've been painting my nails less often but I'm hoping to regain some momentum, starting with a stamping plate review then hopefully carrying on with some new manicures!

Maybelline Crystallize ~ Rose Chic

Hello!

Today I'm wearing a textured sparkle polish I was given for my birthday, Rose Chic by Maybelline. It's from their Color Show Crystallize line. It consists of fine, rich, foily pink glitter with larger glitter pieces for extra sparkle. Here are two coats:

I love love love this! It's the perfect delicate pink colour and it looks really special. I might try it with top coat as well!

Dark Floral Decals

This post contains products which were sent to me for review :-)

Hello!

I cut my nails yesterday and am super pleased with the shorter, cuter length! I decided to make my first nail art a sweet floral design using a decal sheet I received for review from Born Pretty Store.

The pattern consists of vintage white, peach and pink roses over a black background, and there's also a choice of a white version on the item listing. It's a full sheet decal which you can cut and use as you like; I decided to go for two full nails alongside a pale pink polish to complement the decal.

The pattern is gorgeous and applied very easily. However I did the manicure last night and took the photo this afternoon, and you can see some tip wear on my ring finger even though I applied top coat. Perhaps you need to take extra care when filing away any excess decal when you apply it.

As always you can get 10% off your Born Pretty Store order using my coupon code, CMBQ10

Pride Manicure!

Hello!

Yesterday I attended Northern Pride for the first time ever and it was amazing! Today I am tired, bruised and horribly sunburnt but it was worth it to take in such a wonderful celebration of acceptance, love and freedom. Plus the Vengaboys were performing, how cool?!

For my manicure I wanted a simple yet super sparkly rainbow glitter skittle, and here it is:

The glitters I used are as follows, in rainbow order:

Barry M - Red Glitter
Barry M - Gold Glitter
Butter London - Henley Regatta
Barry M - Blue Glitter
Nails Inc - Buckingham Street

I painted one coat of a similar colour under each glitter for maximum opacity and pop.

Here are my nails at Pride itself, accessorised with some lovely rainbow friendship bracelets:

Blue Floral Manicure

This post contains products which were sent to me for review :-)

Hello!

A couple of days ago I had a new nail art review package arrive from Born Pretty Store, and today I'm showing you a very nice indeed floral pattern water decal.

The decal comes in one sheet that you can cut and use as you wish, and you can choose from cream or blue with roses. I have the blue one to try and it reminds me of Cath Kidston - vintage and feminine, very much my style! For my manicure I painted a cream-coloured base of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and applied the water decal to my ring fingernail as a full nail design and to my middle fingernail as a circle of pattern. I sealed everything with top coat and here is the result:

I love it! The decal is completely opaque and applies very well - soak it in water for about 30 seconds then position it onto your nail, pressing down to adhere it. I think it's just beautiful.

Geordie Nails' Best Day Ever!

Hello!

Today has been really a wonderful day for my blog! First, Models Own shared my latest manicure on Instagram and I've had a great response to it - lots of hearts and new followers, which I'm really grateful for. I've received some lovely comments on the blog which have made me smile. AND... none other than my favouritest actor Zachary Quinto gave Geordie Nails a namecheck during his tweetout interview for Geeknation!!!!!!!!! I'd submitted a question about his pet dogs and he read it out, pronouncing my name right and all, and gave a lovely answer.

Go check it out! My question is at 07:14 but the whole interview is great.

Models Own Manicure!

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago I did a neon & glitter accent manicure and it felt really nice for Summer so I decided to try it again with new colours! I love Models Own, especially because they're great at interacting on social media and are always sharing people's nail art to inspire me, so I chose two of their special polishes to use here :-)

I started by painting my nails in a sheer French, except for my ring fingers which I painted with Models Own Pukka Purple from their Ice Neon range. Then I topped my middle fingernails with Freak Out! from the Mirrorball range - to get maximum glitter onto my nails I painted the polish onto a sponge and dabbed it on. Add top coat for gloss, and here it is:

Bridal Lace Manicure

Hello!

Here is a manicure that I've been wearing for a few days now but am just getting around to blogging about! I seem to be sinking into a new episode of depression which really stinks. Fingers crossed things don't get too bad.

I've experimented with white-on-white stamping before with my Pearl Rose manicure and really wanted to try again as it gives a nice bridal look. This time I kept that same base colour, Barry M Pearl, and for my stamping I chose the lace pattern on MoYou plate Tourist 07. To add a little interest I stamped an accent nail in "borrowed" blue, adding a teeny bird as well. Here it is:

And here is my other hand without an accent nail:

Which do you prefer - blue accent or all white?!

Lovebird & Glitter Manicure

Hello!

My Bird & Glitter manicure is one of my favourite designs to wear and, since I have a lovely fresh bottle of Models Own Blueberry Muffin, I decided to recreate it!

I painted my thumbs and ring fingers with Nails Inc Maida Vale (another great polish I may need a fresh bottle of) and used plenty of top coat to give it smooth shine. The rest of my nails were painted with Blueberry Muffin. For the accent stamping I used the image of a bird carrying a heart from MoYou plate Kitty 11.

Looking at it now I wish I'd used a less bulky stamp, but I love the polish nevertheless ^_^

Sparkle Shower Manicure

Hello!

I was looking through my nail polish yesterday and found my gold strand Barry M glitter that I love but had forgotten about! I decided to use it in a reverse gradient for a glitter shower effect.

For my base colour I chose the very pale pink Rosehip, also by Barry M. Once it was dry I took a damp washing-up sponge and used it to dab the glitter onto the bottom of my nails. On top of this I painted some more glitter just to get a greater distribution of the strands. Two coats of top coat smoothed it all out and here it is:

I really like this for Summer! I know some people can't stand 'hairy glitter' but this is one that I just really love.

Parisian Nail Wraps

Hello!

First of all, happy 4th of July to my American readers! Whilst I feel your country would surely benefit from more lovely, British cups of tea, I hope you have a great day celebrating your independence.

Today's manicure features some nail wrap stickers I bought for next-to-nothing using my Born Pretty Store points! They're Parisian themed and feature the Eiffel Tower, flowers and letters.

Application was really good. The stickers are soft and flexible so they apply smoothly with no creases. The only issue was the wear time! After only a day some of them started to come off around my nail tips. Fortunately I like to change my manicures often but it would be an issue if you were hoping to get decent wear time. Here they are:

A shame because they are beautiful!

Glitter & Neon Accent Time!

Hello!

Yesterday I showed you Bubblegum from Models Own's Ice Neon range. After I swatched it I really wanted to try it as an accent paired with a sheer French shade, so I put Bubblegum on my ring fingers and broke out OPI Bubble Bath for the rest! Afterwards I had the idea to add an extra accent of glitter, and for this I chose a gold and copper glitter mix from Claire's Accessories.

The combo is a bit more... party?... than my usual style but I love the change!

Models Own Ice Neon ~ Bubblegum

Hello!

On Saturday I went to buy a replacement bottle of Models Own Blueberry Muffin (one of the few nail polishes I've used up!) and, since Superdrug were having a '2 for £8' sale, I also bought an Ice Neon polish that I've been eyeing up for a while.

One thing I've learnt over my time blogging is that neon colours are ridiculously hard to photograph! Bubblegum is a super-bright pink that really pops on your nails. It's practically its own light source. But I tried taking a few different photos and couldn't quite get that pop to show. Here is the closest I got, and take my word that it's so much brighter in the flesh:
